Sunday Scribblings - Wings
We used to laugh when we heard Bette Midler sing the song, “Wind beneath my Wings” but now I sigh when I hear it. This is because you have become the wind beneath my wings. You know when to push me along with a gusty breath and when to gently guide me to my proper path.
You are the wind beneath my wings; sometimes the snarky, just do it pushy wind; sometimes the gentle breeze leading me to my proper destination; sometimes the gusty wind sending me on new adventures and sometimes the whispering wind, providing me with inspiration.
Your w
ind has given me the ability to stretch my wings but your wind has been there when my wings have been clipped, when I didn’t think I’d be able to spread them again. You’ve always made me believe that I’d be able to use my wings again and that I’d be able to spread them even further than before.
I strive to be the wind beneath your wings, when you need an extra gust when traveling along your path of life. I work to gently whisper support when your wings have been clipped from overuse. I lift you up when you are down and soar with you when you are full of joy.
For the wind beneath my wings, I thank you because I wouldn’t be the same without you and your wings.

A Not So Innocent Face
Early last week, I was watching this cute little dog named Jesse.
See that cute innocent face...the one that lives for playing ball and taking walks, the one that you lures you into beliving that you can leave things on the floor because she would never, ever get into your things and ruin them. She is a much better dog than that! OR SO I BELIEVED!
On Saturday afternoon (while watching another dog), I went to curl my hair when I noticed something was quite wrong with my curling iron.
Somehow the cord was no longer attached to the electric plug. At first I suspected the dog I was watching but then I realized that I had left my bag (where the curling iron was located) on the bathroom counter which the dog could not reach so he was released from custody.
After careful deliberation, it was determined that the culprit was Jesse, the not-so-innocent dog!

Sunday Scribblings - Rooted
Sunday Scribblings - Rooted
She is not rooted to any one place but she is rooted to many people. She has connections to people around the world from London to Brazil and Seattle to San Diego. She keeps her roots in the hearts of the people she knows and loves while leaving the places she’s lived behind her. Like the wind, she is a memory in the souls of many and when her gentle breeze comes by, they smile with delight. Her kind of wind is almost always welcomed by those who recognize it.
I fight against being rooted but I am rooted to this place. It is my soul that remains un-rooted. It is my soul that floats along the land seeking its right place while my body remains in one place. I want to become un-rooted but my roots keep drawing me back to the same place. I’m drawn back because the place holds the people I am rooted to. They are the ones that keep me rooted where I am and if they ever left, I’m sure I’d go with them. Even though I know this, my soul fights against being pinned down. My soul needs to be un-rooted to thrive while my heart needs its roots. So, I will allow my soul to roam on vacations and my heart to remain rooted at home in its current reality.
We are two un-rooted souls who are rooted together by our hearts. Without the other, we would wither and no longer prosper. We live far apart in actual distance but live close together because we are rooted to the other. Being rooted isn’t always a bad thing. Sometimes it is our roots that keep us grounded to the other.

Mitering Along
The miter-fest continues over at Chez Supergirl.
I finished up two more miters which meant I finished another big square. I now have 4 big squares finished and only about a million to go. Luckily I really like making miters.

Classic Knitting
I’ve been lusting after Erika Knight’s latest book, Classic Knits for awhile now. When I finally punched all that could be punched on my Weaving Works card, I quickly made my way back to the store and purchased, Classic Knits. It’s a lovely book filled with patterns that appear to be designed solely for me (except for the bag, I don’t like the bag).
I had seen the Kelly Cardigan on a few blogs and knew that I had to make it BUT it calls for 8-10 skeins of Rowan Kidsilk Haze. While lovely yarn that would be an expensive sweater so after thinking about my stash for a bit, I remembered that I had a few skeins of Misty Alpaca in lace weight. I believe that I have enough yarn for this sweater but if not, I know where I can acquire more for cheap!
Last night at Ferals, I decided to make my swatch. My lovely, little swatch that now has me frothing at the mouth to start this sweater. Never mind that I have a ton of other lovely projects that I should be finishing. No I think I’d rather sit myself down and start knitting on a new one!

Eye Candy Friday
As I was out walking last night, I spotted this vintage red Fork truck and knew I had to photograph it. The light was ideal and since I have no shame, I started snapping even though the passerbys were all staring at me. It was worth it in the end.

Goals
I've been thinking about goals lately and I realized that I haven't updated my 101 in 1001 goals in awhile. Well since I went on vacation way back in February (it now seems a distant memory!). But I'm not one to let a silly thing like vacation get in the way of accomplishing my goals, in fact, I incorporated many of my goals into my vacation.
While on vacation, I was able to accomplish the following 101 in 1001 goals. These all link to their own private entry on my 101 in 1001 blog.
37. See two previously unseen Vermeer Paintings
68. Buy a ring for myself
63. Go to Ireland
57. Go to England
Now I just need to get back on accomplishing a few more of those 101 goals. Like the TKGA Master Knitter program. Of course now I need to buy new needles since there was an incident involving a dog. Little brat!
This dog LOVES yarn and bamboo needles.

Mitering
Last night I layed out my mitered squares to contemplate the color arrangement. I'm using Kay's No-Sew method which means I have to think a little bit. OK a lot and then steam blows out my head!
I am really enjoying this process. I like finishing something everyday even if it is just a small mitered square. Some days I finish TWO!
This will be a much loved blanket once it is complete but I know that I have a long road to hull. I currently have 14 squares and I need 80 which means I am 17% complete or that I still have to knit 83% more on this blanket. That's a lot of knitting.
I even took some time last night to lay out the squares so that I know what colors to tackle next. Here is the potential layout:
Swell looking!

Photographing
I've been busy. real busy lately. and I've been knitting lots of miter squares but more interestingly, I've been photographing everything.
I spent Saturday on a Flickrite photostroll at Greenlake where we didn't let the rain dampen our spirits (we just retreated to Duke's and drank beer). I had so much fun and the flickrites are a fun group who are up for anything.
Next time...miters...lots and lots of miters.
