The Tale of the Washing Machine and a Very Bad Thing

Sunday night after putting together the dresser, I decided to finish up the laundry. I like the start the week off with clean laundry and a tidy house. The tidy house bit will wait a bit until I'm done moving but the clean laundry seemed like an easy task to tackle.



So I grabbed my clothing off the floor and stuffed them into the washing machine. Somehow along the way, my Original Clapotis ended up in the wash. It did not survive its soapy trip very well and is now much felted.



So I ordered the exact same yarn in the exact same color to make a new one and I'm trying to remember that the Original Clap did see four great years of wearing. I'm just sad because it should have seen 20 great years of wearing if I hadn't been so careless. Grrrr!

Celebrating in Green

On Saturday I met up with the Seattle Flickrittes for the St. Paddy's Parade. This year it didn't rain and the day was extra special since it was the day that Scott and I first met last year.

I staked out a place on the curb and took out my telephoto lens and began snapping photos as the parade made its way down 4th Avenue. My favorite photo from the bunch is this one:



I love that she looks like she smelled something very unpleasant! I keep laughing whenever I look at this photo.

And in knitting news, I've started another Clapotis in Smooshy Sock Yarn (Colorway: Happy Forest). I am loving this year and I think a thinner Clapotis will be really nice. Also I might be addicted to this pattern.

It May Be Time For An Intervention

Ummm I don't know how to say this but I just knit myself a wig out of yarn so I could get a funny 365 Self Portrait and ummmm, I think it is pretty darn funny.

I've been searching for a reason to knit the Hallowig for years and with the 365 project, I found my excuse!




And my bonus reason for knitting this is that Not Martha designed it and tomorrow I'll tell you a funny little six degrees about Not Martha.



Come On! You guys love it when I get all crazy with the yarn and make crazy wigs for myself. Mwahhhh!

Knitting Gone Wrong or Day 17 of NaBloPoMo

Oh the Foliage Hat is just trying to kill me! Somehow I mis-read the directions and ended up with something that could hit an elephant's head! Time to rip back again. Grrrr....must learn to read more carefully!

Foliage Hat ReDeux or Day 15 of NaBloPoMo

The Foliage Hat has not been a quick and easy knit for me. For some reason, my brain is not able to process how this thing is knit and I've had to rip back more times than necessary. Once I hit upon the massive stitch marker solution though, I've been zipping along on the hat. Basically I put a stitch marker between every repeat which means I have like 4,000 stitch markers on my hat but hey it works for me.



Soon I hope to show you a finished Foliage Hat. I have two more repeats of 12 to go and then wearing it I will be!

I'm Knitting a Hat or Day 5 of NaBloPoMo

A few of the Purlygirls have been knitting the latest hat sensation from Knitty, the Foliage Hat. I've been admiring their work and quickly picked up a skein of Malabrigo when I was at Hilltop a few weeks ago.

This Saturday after waking up at 6 a.m. (I had a nightmare and couldn't go back to sleep, it was too vivid!), I decided to cast on and start knitting. Unfortunately for me, I've since ripped out my work a few times and have reached row 19 twice. Last night I was able to get to row 21 without any mishaps and I feel back on my game.

I am loving this pattern for its beauty and lush-ness. It's a wonderful pattern and I will be making more of these hats even with all the struggling I've done with the yarn and the pattern. It's user error so it's understandable.
