Eye Candy Friday or Day 30 of NaBloPoMo
A city scene for your Eye Candy Friday.
Today is the last day of NaBloPoMo and I did it! I posted every single day on this here blog. It was fun but you know what I'm glad to be done! Posting every day is a challenge, a good one, but a challenge still.
I'm really looking forward to not posting tomorrow.

Thoughts on Photography and Knitting or Day 29 of NaBloPoMo
I've been thinking about my photography lately and how it has grown in the last year. While discussing this with the boyfriend last night, I realized that I learn so much from my friends without actively trying to "learn more about photography". Like a sponge, I soak up the information. I also pester the boyfriend about photos and his thoughts but that is a post for another day.
The way I feel about photography is much the same way I feel about my knitting. When I really like something, I tend to obsess just a tiny (ok a HUGE) bit about it and I join groups involving my new obsession. When I learned how to knit, I joined the Purlygirls. When I started doing triathlons, I joined a running group. When I started taking photos again, I joined the Seattle Flickr group.
And from each of these groups, I gained not only knowledge but great friends along with a lifelong obsession. I think sometimes being obsessive can be good for a person. It's brought me a lot of things!

Pink Elephants or Day 28 of NaBloPoMo
Last night I cast on for a bright pink Elijah and I have to say that Ysolda is a genius! I only completed the head but I can already see Elijah forming and he is going to be gorgeous!
The other special part of this yarn is that I got it in a "Magic Yarn" Swap a few years ago from Sweden or Denmark (really wish I could remember the details) and so as I knit, I get presents! How much fun is that? I am making a present for a sweet, dear girl and I'm getting presents as I go along. There might be something in this plan.

Self Portrait Tuesday (Week 4) or Day 27 of NaBloPoMo
This is my fourth entry for Self Portrait Tuesday's November theme of "what I wear". I am a knitter, an obsessiver knitter who knits scarves as if they are going out of style. I not only knit scarves, I also buy scarves so I can wear my scarves. My scarves make me happy, keep me warm and make any boring outfit interesting. I wear scarves.

Clapotis Knitting Thesis or Day 26 of NaBloPoMo
Last night, I started working on my knitting thesis Clapotis while watching Season 1 of House with Scott. I added "temporary" tags until my real ones come in the mail. I quickly remembered why I loved knitting this scarf and can't stop thinking about knitting on it some more.

Tree Lighting or Day 24 of NaBloPoMo
Last night we headed down to Westlake for the annual tree lighting ceremony. We met up with some friends and dove into the festivities.
It was a lot of fun even though the tree is a bit scrawny. Seriously it's missing so many branches that it is leaning on the Charlie Brown tree side.
We were warned to "Save Santa"
and offered Free Hugs

Foliage Knitting or Day 21 of NaBloPoMo
The Foliage Hat, it is finished. On Friday night I decided that something was terribly wrong with the hat and decided to "review" the directions one more time. This was especially important since I'm always telling Meg to trust the pattern.
That is when I discovered that I had missed a very important clue! One that told me to knit the Lace Leaf Pattern. I was instead knitting the crown pattern and creating a HUGE hat that could fit a giant!
But now the hat is done and I love it. I'm going to wear it non-stop until someone makes me take it off and even then I'll keep wearing it.

Self Portrait Tuesday (Week 3) or Day 20 of NaBloPoMo
This is my third entry for Self Portrait Tuesday's November theme of "what I wear". I get so excited when Fall comes around because I know Winter can't be far behind and that means I can pull on my knee socks. I wear knee socks throughout the Winter and actually get a bit sad when Spring comes around because that means the socks, they need to go. So what I wear is Knee Socks and I heart them.

Bending the Rules or Day 19 of NaBloPoMo
Over the weekend, I stayed at a friend's house who has a sewing room. Since my sewing machine is buried in the back of my closet, I decided to take advantage of her room and sew up a few items from "Bend the Rules Sewing". And it was so worth it!
I made up two tea towel aprons, one zipped bag, one clutch (that I forgot to attach the elastic tie with and will now use velcro) and one knit zipped bag. I want to sew more but I ran out of fabric (not to worry, there is plenty more at home) and I definately want to make another clutch, but ummmm this time the right way.
but in the meantime, I'm busy wearing my apron!

Rude People or Day 18 of NaBloPoMo
Scott and I went to Target yesterday and on the way in noticed this BMW taking up TWO parking spaces in an incredibly busy parking garage. I thought it was so rude and announced that his rudeness would be my photo of the day. There was a note on the windshield but it was folded so I have no idea what it said.

Eye Candy Friday or Day 16 of NaBloPoMo
On Sunday, I dragged Scott out to the Fremont Sunday Market and when it started raining we ducked inside where the booths were filled with so much fun stuff. I found this table filled with colorful knitting needles which reminded me of my Grandmother and her knitting needles. I still use them alot when knitting.
Right next to the knitting needles were these lovely letters. I commented to Scott that while I liked the letters, I didn't know what I'd do with them. The lady next to me suggested spelling out someone's name but later I knew that I would much prefer to spell out my feelings than someone's name with these letters.

Foliage Hat ReDeux or Day 15 of NaBloPoMo
The Foliage Hat has not been a quick and easy knit for me. For some reason, my brain is not able to process how this thing is knit and I've had to rip back more times than necessary. Once I hit upon the massive stitch marker solution though, I've been zipping along on the hat. Basically I put a stitch marker between every repeat which means I have like 4,000 stitch markers on my hat but hey it works for me.
Soon I hope to show you a finished Foliage Hat. I have two more repeats of 12 to go and then wearing it I will be!

Fall Swap Goodies or Day 14 of NaBloPoMo
Last night when I arrived home from work to find a delightful present on my doorstep!
My Fall Swap partner, Tiffany of tiffany in the trees sent me the most delightful things. She made me such beautiful things, napkins, a wallet! and a knitting needle case. All so lovely. She also tucked in some yummy candy and Suduko book. It was all wrapped in this beautiful fabric which I plan to use to make something neat.
Thank you so much Tiffany!

Self Portrait Tuesday -- What I Wear (Week 2) or Day 13 of NaBlogPoMo
This is my second entry for Self Portrait Tuesday's November theme of "what I wear". I wear big and sometimes gaudy rings. I love rings when they are big, flashy and full of statement. I love rings that grab people's attention on the street in the same way that they've grabbed my attention in the store. I do not like to spend more than $50 on a ring, but that's not to say that I wouldn't enjoy an expensive ring one day. I just find that the more inexpensive rings have a lot to say.
