Stash Enhancement
A few weeks ago, Scout posted on Flickr about a skein of yarn she dyed after reading newest issue of Domino Magazine.
I quickly pipped in and demanded my own skein which Scout graciously made for me.
It arrived this weekend and I spent time winding it up last night. I can't wait to make some beautiful socks out of this beautiful colorway. It's practically perfect with the brown, pink, blue and purple in it.

It was her Destiny
My baby cat, Destiny passed away this morning after a bout with kidney disease. We had scheduled an appointment with the vet to euthanize her this morning but I told her last night that it was her decision how she wanted to go. She choose to go quietly with my parents.
I'll always remember her for her fiesty attitude and major hiss. She now lies beneath the pine tree that my cousin got from McDonalds when he was 4 years old. My other two cats also lie beneath that tree. I'll miss my Destiny.

Baby Kitty
Destiny is getting weaker and weaker. This morning she was lying on the floor with her tail barely twitching and almost unable to lift her head. My Mom placed her favorite blanket beneath her for comfort and I spent some time saying goodbye to her because she may not be around when I come home later but then again she might still be around when we get home later.
She's been the most interesting kitty I could have had. She provided me with lots of love, laughter and great memories. I do love her so much.

Beautiful Weekend
We headed up to Deception Pass this weekend for hiking, photography and some car knitting for me. He had never been to Deception Pass and so that is where we went. It was a beautiful day and I took a lot of pictures. We followed up the day with a ferry ride home. It was a nice day.
Soon the Harry Potter Scarf will be done but sadly not in time for the book. I saw the movie on Friday and it was ok. I remembered though that book 5 was only ok too. I can't wait to read the final book. I'll be sad to let the series go though.

Summer Slows Down the Knitting
Each year as Summer rolls around, I vow to not let my knitting slip aside and yet every Summer the knitting slips to the background. Instead my photography, outdoor activities and friends take center stage.
I don't mind letting my knitting slip aside through the short warm months that Seattle has. There are plenty of months where the rain and cold keeps one inside and knitting is the perfect fit for those months.
So the sun is to blame for my lack of knitting mojo, that and a boy, a special one. I now understand why Meg is often distracted from her knitting. Boys do that, they distract.

Harry Potter Deadlines
Last Friday night after deciding against seeing an outdoor movie in the thundering rain, I sat down with my Harry Potter Scarf and started knitting. Then I kept staring at the one burgundy stripe that was slightly too small. It was too small! I kept measuring and pulling and stretching and still TOO SMALL! So I did what any other Type A knitter does, I ripped back and added more burgundy. It felt good. Then I started back on the yellow stripe.
Last night, Meg and I went to see "Evening" and I took that opporunity to knit on my scarf througout the movie. The movie was beautifully wonderful and now my scarf is much, much longer.
P.S. Is it wise to go see a movie about death that makes you cry when you've already been crying all day about your cat dying? Is it? All I can say is that my eye hurt today but that I'm glad that I saw the movie. It is the kind of movie I love.
Editted to add: Destiny is still alive. I was just crying all day because she will die soon, much too soon for my wishes. We are keeping her comfortable and giving her so much love.

Destiny
Yesterday was the first day of July, a new month to conquer, a new time to build memories, a fresh start. I started the day off with a run/walk around Greenlake. My brother's dogs were worn out by the exercise. Then after a bagel at Noah's and coffee with Julie and Eric, I headed back to Bellevue where I watched the Koa (not sure of the spelling) fish in the front pond. They are greedy little creatures when you throw them some fish food and lazy bums when left alone.
I visited Destiny (my cat) yesterday at my parent's house. She is getting skinnier and skinner. She's just flesh and bones with a mean hiss. I'm afraid that she won't be with me much longer. She was my very first pet as an adult (so far the only one I've had) and I often treated her as my baby.
A furry baby but still one I've loved with all my heart. Today we spent time together. At least she still has her attitude which gives my heart pause but sometimes there are things that you know and I just know that my baby won't be with me much longer. I want her to prove that feeling wrong.
