Boneyard-ing

On January 31, just moments before 11 p.m., I finished my second shawl (Boneyard) for "10 Shawls in 2010" Ye Old Ravelry page is here.



After knitting Clothide, I decided that I wanted an easier shawl before tackling a lace one again. I thought the Boneyard Shawl would be perfect as I had two skeins of Jo Sharp Silken Aran Tweed in my stash and all I needed was two more skeins to complete this project.

I skipped off to my local yarn store where I discovered that Jo Sharp was not importing her yarn to the US any longer which meant the two skeins I needed were not to be. I was not deterred though and purchased four skeins of Rowan Felted Tweed which turned out to be quite lovely even though it was a bit more expensive than I had planned, so much for my stash busting!



I love this shawl. The yarn was perfect for this project and produced the nicest drape. The shawl is quite large which will be perfect for cold winter nights. The pattern was super easy but entertaining enough for me to remain engaged.

Finishing Frenzy

Since I've been snowed in, I've been on a real finishing frenzy!

I finished up my Sock Yarn Clapotis and last night finished the first part of my Alterknits Scarf.Shawl.Wrap. It was a bit too easy and I can't remember why I stopped knitting on it in the first place.



Now I just need to cast on for the shawl portion of this project and get knitting but first I have a few other WIPs to finish up.

Green is Delicious!

I recently discovered ilikelemons which is a fun knitting blog full of unique knitted items. One of my favorite patterns is the Button Tab Hat. I finished this late last night but knew I had to grab a picture in the early morning light this morning. I got this fun orange button from The Fiber Gallery. It's so unique.

Estoy Enfermo or Day 12 of NaBloPoMo

I spent the weekend in severe hunker down mode and finished up one of my Walking Away socks. Now I just need to cast on for the second so I have a pair of socks to wear. My left foot was getting so cold this weekend!



And this morning after such a wonderful weekend of doing nothing and lazing around, I found myself feeling unwell. I have a sore throat, a sad little cough and a headache. I'm at work but I'm not too sure if I'll last the day.

Frothy FO

Last night was Scott and I's six month anniversary and after a very nice dinner, I was able to finish my Rowan Froth Scarf which made for a fantastic evening. It doesn't get much better than time with Scott, good food and finished knitting!



I apologize for the colors being off in these photos but it was still dark this morning when I left for work. Heck, I think it might be dark all day around here.



UFO Status Update

I have seven items to complete.

Winthrop = More FOs!

This past weekend, the girls and I headed up to Winthrop for a girl's weekend of crafting, reading and relaxing. I went with two goals - 1) finish the damn purple sweater and 2) seam up Arnie the knit bird. I knew I could do it since I was still on a high from finishing my Hilltop Wrap earlier in the week.



Since the Damn Purple Sweater holds the name of Damn Purple Sweater, I decided to finish Arnie up first.



He was a joy to seam up even though I found the directions to be a bit unclear. Luckily Mara was around to agree that they were confusing.



Later on Saturday night, I decided it was time to attack the Damn Purple Sweater and I told Meg that I was going to Pin the Crap out of it! And so I did.



It was pinned almost to death!



And by the end of Saturday night, I had accomplished my goals! I had seamed the Damn Purple Sweater. Now Meg and Jessica can leave me alone! This brings my UFOs down to 9 items. Whooo-hoo!



I liked Winthrop. I accomplished my goals and was able to acquire an awesome hat. I want to wear it all the time.

Finally Finished FOs!

It was a busy knitting weekend in New Mexico. I was energized with the desire to get a few of my 17 UFOs off my plate and I did!



First off, I finished up a hat I started knitting almost 5 years ago. It was supposed to be for a former co-worker's premature baby (mind you that job was two jobs ago!). Now the challenge will be finding a baby to slap this hat on. Shouldn't be too hard, it seems everyone is pregnant!



I also finished the Irish Hiking Scarf which Mot quickly wrapped around her head in the 90 degree heat. She's a goof!Of course I had to follow suit. I'm a copy cat!



I loved knitting this scarf and found it to be a beautiful simple cable pattern. Of course you'd think differently if you saw my notes!



Lots of scribbles and ticks there.

I think the Irish Hiking Scarf enjoyed New Mexico as I found it lounging outside in the desert sun later that evening.



And after careful discussing with Mot, I decided to rip the Dublin Bay Sock. Not because I don't love the pattern but because I did not love the pooling that STR was developing with this pattern. I need to stash dive for a different sock yarn and then I will cast on again because this is a wonderful pattern.

So for anyone counting this brings me down to 14 UFOs and I plan to tackle a few more this weekend! PS Both of the above FOs were accomplished using the 48 hour plan. It totally works! I knit faster because I felt that I had a deadline. I need deadlines.
