March Update for the Doubleknit 2012 Finish, Frog, & Slog-along

The Knitting Pile

I'm still hard at work on the 2012 Finish, Frog and Slog-along. Last month, I finished the Damn Green Socks, did not work on my Shedir at all and started and finished the Jane Hat.

Jane Hat

I'm quite pleased with the Jane Hat. It's a simple yet pleasing knit. For some reason, I'm also quite into Mustard Yellow as a color so this yarn helped satisfy the urge to own a piece of clothing in this color.

Lace-Up Shawl and Scarf

This month, I will again work on my Shedir hat and I will be working on my Lace-Up Shawl. I finished the Scarf ages ago and for some reason never got going on the shawl. This past weekend, I settled in with some Fringe shows, the pattern and some yarn. After ripping out my previous work and starting over, I'm now happily knitting away on this shawl.

Teething Baby

Molly says she approves of these plans and will try to sleep extra so I can get some knitting time in.

Damn Green Socks

Green

It's an amazing day! The damn green socks which took me over three and a half years to knit are finally finished. OK Let's be honest, the first sock took me a few weeks to knit but the second sock took me three and a half years to complete.

Even Molly thinks three and a half years is much to long to have knit on a sock but she's fascinated by the bright green color.

As soon as the socks are dry, I plan to wear them until they have holes in the heels. Then they can go to my darning basket where socks go to retire as I never do get around to darning their heels.

February Update for the Doubleknit 2012 Finish, Frog, & Slog-along

Green Apple Socks

February has arrived and I'm still working on those darn green socks. I'm completely sick of the lace pattern so it's hard to make myself work on them in my limited knitting time. I did turn the heel so I have only the leg portion of the sock to complete which is I believe 5 repeats of the lace pattern.

Shedir

Along with finally finishing the darn green socks this month, I will be working on my Shedir. It's been a challenging pattern for me and I've been working on this hat for a very long time. I feel almost as it if it is my knitting Mt. Everest.

Molly Marian Cowl

And because I need mindless, easy to finish pieces, I made myself a Marian Cowl out of Rowan Polar which I call my Molly Marian Cowl since I knit most of it while holding Molly.

Marian Cowl

Last month I made no progress on my Mitered Square Blanket but I'm fine with that. Heck, I may not finish the blanket this year but I hope to finish all my other projects! I currently have 8 WIPs and since I WILL BE FINISHING the darn green socks this month, I'll be down to 7. Easy Peasy! Now the hard part will be stopping myself from starting new projects with all my pretty, pretty yarn.

Mongrammed

M in her M Sweater

I finished my first project in the FFS2012 project last week. It's a great sweater with a bit of room to grow for Molly.
I loosely based this sweater on the Bodacious Bunny Baby Set and tried a bit of double knitting on the pocket. I decided against making the bunny toy for the pocket because Molly is too young to care at 2 months.

Doubleknit 2012 Finish, Frog, & Slog-along

Slog Project Storage

After listening to my friend's Erin and Jessica's Doubleknit podcast challenge for 2012, I decided to join in on the 2012 Finish, Frog & Slog-along. I have a few too many projects lingering on the needles.

The first thing I did was gather all my WIPs and place them in one spot. We have two ottomans in the den (aka Grand Central Station) and so I put my projects in one of those. That way I can reach in and grab the next WIP without having to find them in my craft room. It will make it harder for me to avoid them.

I've also decided that each month, I will work on two projects with the hopes of finishing two projects a month. This month, I'm finishing Molly's Monogrammed Sweater and my Year of the S(ox) #7 socks which I started in 2009 with some beautiful green yarn from North Loop Yarn.

Butterfly Socks

I'm also going to work on at least two mitered squares from my Miter Square Blanket which I started the same month I met Scott in 2007. This might be my longest lingering WIP. I have about 18 squares to finish and I want to finish this blanket!
