Portlandia
We took off for a family birthday and a little getaway this past weekend. I had my running group on Sunday morning so we left once I had run my 6 miles.
It was a rainy trip down to PDX but once we arrived, the family time more than made up for the wet weather. Molly played with her cousins and we celebrated Scott's nephew's 7th birthday with dinner at Red Robin. He really wanted McDonald's as 7-year-old boys do but we were able to convince him to upgrade to Red Robin.
We decided to stay in downtown Portland at my favorite hotel, Hotel Deluxe. When we arrived, we were upgraded to a junior suite which was wonderful as it gave Molly more space to move. After 3.5 hours in the car, she needed to wiggle!
We splurged and had some delicious Portland ice cream delivered to our room. Molly even snuck a few bites in between her explorations of the room.
In the morning, I woke up before Scott and Molly. I took the opportunity to sit quietly and read while they slept. Molly was recovering from a cold so she needed all the sleep she could get.
Once the whole family was up, Scott got to searching for a great place for breakfast. We love how great the restaurants are in Portland and while we have our favorites, we decided it was time for a new place. We ate at Besaws and it was divine! It was crazy busy for a Monday morning. We had to wait for a table. That says something for how good it was. I also liked that the kid's menu wasn't full of chicken fingers and other nonsense. It had good food, just smaller portions. We got Molly a Toad in a Hole breakfast while I ordered the Farmer's Hash. Scott had a Hella Burrito and it was hella good!
We decided to head back to Seattle after breakfast since Molly needed a nap and it was super rainy. We had a quick drive and ended up stopping in Tacoma for a cupcake break and a walk.
We stopped at Hello Cupcake for our cupcakes and they had the best Word of the Day on their wall!
After enjoying some sugary treats, we headed over to the Glass Museum which was unfortunately closed. Molly did get a chance to run and we checked out the glass sculptures outside the museum.
After getting the wiggles out, we headed home where we collapsed from our quick trip to PDX. It was fun to see family and enjoy a night in a nice hotel. Sometimes the quick getaways are the best.

Do you get to go to Portland very often? (And is that a remote control Molly's holding/staring at?)
@Anthony - We go to PDX a lot! I believe Molly was playing with a remote control there. She likes to pretend that they are telephones.
